The Seafront

Anton was commissioned to make this film, working as producer, director and editor.

The film is a 'process' driven film. Anton approached making the film in a way that kept the content of the film as open as possible without 'imposing' a pre-determined idea of what should and should not be in the film. There was no script as such, the story was allowed to develop as shooting progressed to take whatever direction the characters in the film took it.

The resulting film is a meditative portrait of a forgotten slice of British life at the seaside. Steve, seaching for his fortune with a metal detector says there is more gold in the sea than on land. Penpa, who originally came to the UK from Tibet was surprised to find that the sea was so salty. Tim, who is 67, swims in the sea every day but never puts his head under. Mark and Effraim use BMX as a way to escape the monotony of the seafront and inspire other young people to stay out of trouble.
